This video covers what StatusNet is, its similarities and differences to , and a bit about its future. The video is almost twenty minutes long, but it's quite interesting throughout and suitable for both the microblogging veteran and the absolute beginner.


Status.Net is an open-source, federated microblogging platform which runs on about 20,000 sites, the most famous of which is Identi.ca. The service is generally API-compatible with Twitter and Status.Net servers can communicate with each other out of the box, as well as many other social sites like and WordPress.com.
